The NuDance Festival presents up-and-coming choreographers who will show new, original choreography. The dance works are innovative, cutting edge and definitely thrilling to watch. We are on an exhilarating journey of exploration as we discover and experience the next generation of pioneering dance artists.

This four-day festival, presents between 8-12 choreographers in three evenings of performance. The Festival also includes Choreographers in Creation, an informal sharing of the works in process with a participatory segment for audience members.

Choreographers in Creation

The intent of this workshop is to create a common ground between the artist and the audience, in which both can meet and learn from one another. In addition, this activity helps the audience gain a better understanding of the complexity of creating and performing dance and movement.

Choreographers in Creation allows the audience members to observe an open rehearsal, watching the creative process of a choreographer in action. Immediately following there is a Meet the Artist portion of the workshop, in which choreographers and performers introduce themselves to the audience with time for a Q&A, where audience and choreographer discuss the piece they had just observed.

Lastly, the Discover Dance portion of the workshop will allow the choreographers to teach the audience a section of movement. Specifically, the audience is learning the dance which will be performed during the festival.

The audience walks away with a better comprehension of the creative process of a choreographer in action, and a deeper appreciation for dance and movement.
