The Riverside Church Senior Minister Search Committee To Name Senior Minister Finalist Sunday April 27th
04/18/2014 - The Senior Minister Search Committee has selected the Finalist it will recommend to the Congregation for the next Senior Minister of The Riverside Church. The By-Laws of the Church allow the Committee to submit only one name to the Congregation for its approval and the Committee’s recommendation of the Finalist is unanimous and without reservation.

In February, several groups in the church, and the Latino Ministry and the African Fellowship communities, will join in celebrating both Black History and Dominican History month.
Riverside Church mourns the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela.
A warrior for justice, a pillar for social consciousness in the 20th and 21st Century, he leaves a legacy of inspiration for us to aspire toward.
Mr. Mandela was a guest of this congregation twice. First in 1990, after his release from 27 years in prison on Robben Island in South Africa, and again in 2005 as he was retiring from global travel.
His visits here were a significant acknowledgement of the strong ties of this congregation to the South African Anti-Apartheid movement and the South Africa Council of Churches.
The congregation of the Riverside Church celebrates the life of Nelson Mandela, holding in prayer the Mandela family and standing in solidarity with the people of South Africa and all freedom and justice loving peoples throughout the world.

Soon our interim ministry will have come full circle on three years. The work of the Senior Minister Search Committee is advancing well, and we have come to a mutual understanding that this is the right time to set our sights on new horizons—Rev. Phelps on his, and the Church on its. On January 5, 2014, The Riverside Church will celebrate communion together one last time with Rev. Phelps and will offer up our joined gratitude for the ministry he has shared with us, and then bid farewell.
09/23/2013 - On Sunday afternoon, September 22nd, Riverside's Debra P. Northern, Director of Social Services, was ordained to the ministry of word and sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
