English Conversation Program
Founded in November 1961, the program celebrates Riverside’s commitment to international concerns. Individuals from countries outside the United States get the opportunity to practice their English language skills by speaking for at least one hour per week with a volunteer in an informal setting. The Riverside Church English Conversation Program has volunteers who meet with a student once a week for one hour. John Donne/George Herbert Poetry Group Participants enjoy group discussions on a variety of works including poetry. Contact Joel Horton at 212.663.0687. Laity Empowerment A small group experience to nurture discipleship, spiritual growth, make new friends, and identification of lay gifts for ministry. This is offered in cycles during the year. The group meets in a series of eight sessions and one mid-series Saturday retreat. Call 212 870 6703 for the current brochure. R. E. A. L (Riverside Emerging Artist League) A collective of artists providing a great way to participate in a supportive community. The program is a unique opportunity for all artists to both share work and make connections. Artists working in therapy and activism are strongly invited! Friends are always welcome to come and observe. Refreshments are served after the presentations.
